Fortnite Ballistic, a first-person tactical 5v5 shooter, brings adrenaline-filled competition to Fortnite. Launching on December 11th in early access, this no-build mode challenges players to strategize, communicate, and adapt. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting addition.
A First-Person Tactical Shooter
Fortnite Ballistic introduces a first-person perspective, immersing players in high-stakes, round-based matches. The early access launch includes the Skyline 10 map, offering a dynamic battlefield for intense skirmishes. While the starting set of weapons and gadgets is limited, players can expect updates with new maps, weapons, and features based on community feedback.
Gameplay Overview
Each Ballistic match consists of two teams—attackers and defenders. Attackers aim to plant the Rift Point Device, a reality-tearing bomb, at one of two sites. Defenders must prevent its detonation or eliminate the attackers. Key gameplay elements include:
- Rounds: Matches are won when a team secures 7 rounds. Teams switch sides after 6 rounds.
- No Respawns: Elimination is permanent for the round, adding to the tension.
- Rift Point Device: Takes 45 seconds to detonate. Beware of its blast radius.
Players begin with a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits, which can be spent on weapons and gadgets at the start of each round. Surviving a round allows you to retain your gear, minus used consumables.
Weapons and Gadgets
The arsenal in Ballistic is tailored for a variety of playstyles:
- Assault Rifles: Ideal for medium and long-range engagements.
- Shotguns: Perfect for close-quarters combat.
- Submachine Guns: Quick and effective for surprise attacks.
- Sniper Rifles: Deadly at long range.
- Pistols: Reliable and budget-friendly.
Players can also equip tactical items like Smoke Grenades and Flashbangs to gain a strategic edge.
Flex Gadgets
Each player selects a unique Flex Gadget before the match, enabling tailored strategies. Options include:
- Proximity Mine: A booby-trap for unsuspecting enemies.
- Bubble Shield: Provides temporary protection from bullets and projectiles.
- Recon Grenade: Marks nearby enemies, even through walls.
- Frag Grenade: Explodes to flush enemies out of cover.
- Impulse Grenade: Disrupts or launches enemies and allies for creative plays.
Unranked & Ranked Modes
Ballistic offers Unranked and Ranked modes to suit different player preferences:
Unranked Mode
Perfect for casual play, Unranked allows players to:
- Experiment with weapons and gadgets.
- Practice teamwork and strategies.
- Backfill matches if a player leaves.
- Remain on the same server post-match.
Ranked Mode
For a competitive edge, Ranked mode enforces stricter rules:
- No backfilling if a player leaves.
- Rank Penalties for quitting matches, including temporary bans.
- Rankings are based on team performance, individual contributions, and consistency.
Matchmaking in Ranked is determined by the average rank of your party, ensuring balanced competition. Winning teams gain rank points, while losing teams lose them. Players can view penalty details and rank progress by selecting their rank icon in the lobby.
Why Ballistic Stands Out
Ballistic merges Fortnite’s unique style with tactical gameplay reminiscent of popular shooters like Valorant. The inclusion of Flex Gadgets, no-build mechanics, and a robust Ranked mode sets it apart as a highly competitive addition to Fortnite.
